Ottolenghi

One of the best things about being in London is that it's flooded with amazing places to eat, with even more opening each day!

I like to think of myself as a bit of an amateur ‘foodie’.  Always looking for exciting and delicious places to eat, and never afraid to try something daring.  Lucky for me, my Aunt and Uncle are expert foodie’s and have shown me some great places already, Ottolenghi being one of them.

Ottolenghi is a creative, contemporary café/deli, offering a huge selection of tasty, Mediterranean styled food daily.  Their range of freshly baked pastries and cakes were displayed in a gorgeous, overflowing tower in their front window, immediately drawing in crowds of people; but it doesn’t stop there.  Inside is an arrangement of brightly coloured and appetizing salads across the counter with a selection of cooked/cold meats, tarts, quiches and pies beside.

I thought, “This is my kind of buffet.”  The way it works at Ottolenghi, is you choose a ’Main’, which can being any of the meats, pies, tarts, quiches, etc., and either two or three salads to accompany it.  A completely new take on the traditional buffet style café; the staff come to you to serve your dish as you decide.

On my trip to Ottolenghi I chose to have a piece of the free-range chicken with date molasses, red pepper, onion and garlic as my main, along with some roast aubergine with sorrel yogurt sauce, radishes, roasted pecans, lemon zest and mixed herbs, and also roast sweet potato with peanut sauce, Aleppo chilli, coriander, spicy peanuts and spring onion.  The food was exceptional!

To indulge just a little bit more, afterwards I treated myself to one of their chocolate almond tea cakes, which was just as amazing, with a deliciously decadent center – just the way I like it!

Excuse the poor quality photos.
