I have just embarked on the adventure of a
lifetime. I spent the day in a rush
trying to pack all my belongings into two suitcases. A 30kg weight sounds like it would be enough,
but with one and a half hours to go, I found myself packing, unpacking and
repacking to reduce my load, by more than I would have liked. A pile of much wanted (more than needed) clothes
and were left behind for my mother to send to me in the post. I thought I had done well considering
everything I needed to live with for the next 2 years had been squished into
two suitcases; all to arrive at the check-in counter and be asked to try remove
some items, as I was .9 kg overweight, I explained to the check-in lady that it
was all clothing and there wasn’t much I could do, so thankfully she let it
slide!
Online check in is always the way to go. The queue had near to no one in it, so I
speedily chucked my bags on the conveyer belt, had my boarding pass printed and
relocated upstairs to spend my last hour and a bit before boarding, with
family and close friends.
Multiple tears, and a photo shoot later I
was on my way through the other side, taking the first step to start the next
chapter.
