The first part of my two-year journey was a
two-week stopover in Melbourne, before heading to my final destination, the UK.
Melbourne has become one of my favourite places in the world, and is definitely
on my list of places to live, at some point.
I have family there, so I’ve been fortunate to visit most years and have
gotten to know the city well.
Over the two weeks I didn’t do much in the
way of sightseeing or tourist activities as such, I didn’t exactly feel the
need to seeing as I’ve seen most of it all before. But I did go to the MCG to watch an AFL game,
shopped at Doncaster, spent a day at the DFO in the city, attended a school
fundraiser Fashion Show, had a birthday party and went out one night with my
cousin and her friend who was visiting.
The rest of my time was spent hanging out with my family, which was all
I wanted to do, so all-in-all it was a great two weeks spent doing what I
wanted.
Unfortunately, seeing as I am now out in the world and supporting myself, I had limited funds to spend in Melbourne. I took a specific amount with me that I hoped would last me for two weeks for food, activities and maybe even some shopping. I now realise that, had I not been able to stay with family, I would have needed a fair amount more than I took... I think learning how to live on a budget will be a good idea before travelling much more (haha). But, seeing as I was lucky enough to be supported by my family in Melbourne, I splurged and bought a couple of luxuries for myself :) One of them being more of a necessity than a luxury; a hard drive to back up my laptop incase of future mishaps leaving it unattended in foreign places.
